Are you making a difference?  Do you inspire others to make a difference or are you inspired by others who make a difference? (you may have to read that last line again). Bringing your passion and positive energy to everything and everyone you interact with makes an impact.  I enjoy watching people turn everything into a positive light and see how they make the best of any given situation. On the business side, it is enjoyable to truly partner with clients to...

How are you building your network on a daily basis? Share your network by connecting people.   This should be happening all the time and should happen naturally when the opportunity arises.  Being known as "the Connector" is a good thing to building your Circle. I personally enjoy connecting people especially at the WindsorEssex Circle events. Watching new relationships develop and seeing interactive discussions leading to great ideas which turn into opportunities for them is what it's all about. Sharing information such as articles...

What do top producers believe in? They feel they can ask their prospect any question.   Do you share this same feeling?   Are any topics or questions off the table or not appropriate?   Being open and candid with prospects is a good approach.   Knowing when to press and when not to press on a topic is something top producers usually get right. When meeting prospects for the first time, the answer is asking them questions and to keep asking questions.   This is the...

Many of you have asked why I blog and comment on the weekly topics.   Thank you for the feedback and want to share an updated version of this topic with you. Every Wednesday morning rolls around and it's time to publish Building Circles blog.  So why do I blog?  When I reflect on the first Building Circles blogs, it makes me chuckle because I used to blog daily!   It was my way of sharing my thoughts which eventually evolved into a...

On Friday, February 16th, it was a pleasure to sit on a panel for WEST of Windsor for their Leadership and Community Development Program for Newcomer Youth Entrepreneurship. The panel was comprised of Frank Abbruzzese, President of AlphaKOR, Blake & Lindsay Angier, Artistic Directors & Owners of Dance Barre, Ali El Gamrini, Owner of Pushers Collective and Stacey Dillard, Owner of Kavari. It was a good make-up of business owners sharing our experiences, both good and challenging with the students at WEST.  The...

The top 3 challenges leaders overcome in my opinion are:  Fear, Negativity and The Past. Fear I have shared this with you in the past my biggest fear is the fear of failure.  This inspires me to focus on being successful with all decisions made.  Sometimes I am wrong and like most leaders, we accept this, face it head on and keep moving forward.  Thanks to our instincts and our circles of people around us who help us make the right decisions...

Do you enjoy public speaking?   It is an honour to be invited to speak at events, talk to the media, do interviews and video's.   I admit it is always a bit nerve-racking and want to know what they are going to ask.  Here are some tips to help with public speaking. Always be prepared.  Ask what the speaking engagement will be about, what is the topic and what subject matter do they want you to focus on.  Write out your thoughts...

How often do you get the opportunity to share your story?   Thanks to Katie Renaud, Workforce Windsor Essex, for asking AlphaKOR to tell our story about working in the Tech Sector.  It was such a pleasant experience and she sent over details of what to expect on interview and video day. Katie arranged a preliminary walk-thru in advance to determine where and what was going to be filmed.  Katie had good ideas which made it a fun and an enjoyable experience.   Being...

Are you having any coffee chats or are you having too many coffee chats?  There are so many opportunities to meet in the office for coffee or at many great venues!   Add the lunches, dinners and gala's we attend and it seems like the face-to-face time still works well. Most of the coffee places have WiFi so you can always be plugged in when waiting for your guest or linger longer afterward to stay in touch.  Put the phone away during...

What are your keys to maintaining customer relationships? Good communications is always a major key factor.  Listen to your customer and welcome the candid feedback.  Take this candid feedback and make the necessary changes to improve on.  This will differentiate you from the rest. Be real and sincere by showing how much you care about your customer.  Building trusting relationships requires honesty.  Pretending to care or going through the motions to care will not cut it and they will notice it. Help your...
