What drew you to the Software Developer position?

I was drawn to the Software Developer position at AlphaKOR because of my educational background in Computer Science.

What does the average day look like for you in your role?

The average day as a Software Developer typically looks like 20% Client Communication, 50% Code and 20% Testing and 10% doing other tasks.

Did you work in the IT/Software industry prior to working at AlphaKOR?

Yes, before working at AlphaKOR, I worked for various other companies. I have been working in the IT and Software industry for over 20 years.

What is it like working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP)?

I enjoy working for a Managed Service Provider because it is very agile and client-oriented!

How do you manage your time working for multiple clients?

I manage my time working for multiple clients by ensuring proper communication and avoiding duplication.

What key qualities do you think a good Software Developer possesses?

I think the key qualities that a good Software Developer possesses include:

  • Being process-oriented and system-oriented
  • Acting as an agent to change
  • Being eager to learn

What is your favourite thing about your job?

My favourite thing about being a Software Developer is being agile, and sometimes acting as a Scrum Master.

What is your least favourite part of your job?

My least favourite thing about my job is not being as product-oriented as I’d like to be.

How do you hope to grow in your field of work?

I want to grow with the AlphaKOR Team. In my field of work, I want to grow on the enterprise level, build a better DevOps team and increase documentation.

What have you learned at AlphaKOR that has helped you grow personally?

AlphaKOR has helped me grow on a personal level by providing me with knowledge for new business domains such as the Automotive Industry and Carrier services.

For someone who would like to obtain a position as a Software Developer, what advice would you give to them?

For someone looking to work in the Software Developer role, my advice to them is Don’t Repeat Yourself (DRY), and write unified and reusable code. The goal of the DRY principle is to reduce the repetition of patterns and code duplication to avoid redundancy.
