MFA is not enough

Phishing attacks are becoming more damaging

Although Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) has been a significant step forward in enhancing security by adding an extra layer of protection beyond passwords, Phishing-Resistant MFA can significantly bolster security measures. The use of hardware tokens or biometric authentication is making it more challenging for attackers to bypass or manipulate. Hardware tokens generate one-time passwords that are difficult to intercept, while biometric authentication relies on unique physical characteristics that are harder to replicate or fake. Employing these more secure MFA methods can indeed elevate the overall security posture of systems and applications.

Clone Phishing

What is it and how does it work?

Clone phishing is a type of phishing attack where an attacker creates a replica, or “clone”, of a legitimate email, website, or communication that appears nearly identical to the original. The objective is to deceive recipients into thinking it’s a legitimate message from a trusted source, making them more likely to take a desired action, such as revealing sensitive information, clicking on malicious links, or downloading malware. Clone phishing typically works through replication by creating a replica of the genuine email or website, manipulation by altering links to direct users to a fake site designed to steal login credentials, and deception by tricking recipients into assuming the message is from a trusted source.
Clone phishing relies on the trust recipients have for familiar-looking communications. Being vigilant and verifying the authenticity of messages can greatly reduce the risk of falling victim to such attacks.
